Octopie

Octopie was a project at my university during an Erazmus+ program. Here we can see the paper project/idea before we started creating the game digitally. Octopie is my first such project and the whole design was mine + some of the puzzle technich.  

The idea behind Octopie was a mix of many options. I wanted to create a fun, adventurous game, that will make the players think outside the box, pay attention to the details and teach them to explore the game, not only follow instructions. 

The game was created for 4 weeks and was my first touch with photoshop and Unity.

How to cult - game created during Global Game Jam 2022

Like in many Game Jams, plenty of the art hasn't been used for the game, either there was no time for the programmers to implement it or a different idea/model was chosen out of the given ones from the artists. - So here are some parts of the UI and the transition screen animations which might have not been part of the game, but were planned to be before being changed.

The game was story/choice-driven with the idea to create your own cult. While I had nothing much to do with the idea this time, I put my hands on some of the designs such as the UI design in-game, the logo, and the transitions screen.

In this project my teammates and I understood that to catch someone's attention and to make something beautiful, you don't have to make everything moving, as many moving elements can distract the player/viewer from the main subject/idea of what you want to show.

While the game changed plenty of times before it reached its complete demo, the end idea was that we had to get rid of our main bad "roots" (which were representing the bad behavior, memories, things we don't like in our life, etc.) and to see that once freed, we are in control of our own moves. Although a small game, we made three characters. The idea behind the characters was to show that every culture has its own bad sides and everyone should just try their best to free themselves and be in charge of their own lives.

I have worked on two of the characters and the UI,  some small animations such as idle and the UI buttons small animations. Here we can see the main idea of the characters' look and the second image after each is the one represented in the game while trying to remove the old/bad roots. 

And again we couldn't fit into the time to implement everything so here is the menu that should have been in the game and the little buttons animations.

Game assets and weapons proposal to an existing game

​I was given a task to come up with some new ideas for an already existing game and I had fun creating some new weapon techniques. All of the above images have explained the ideas of how they should work and what the weapons/skills should do in-game.
